The painting talks about my roots, my family is from Andalusia, but I was born and raised in Valencia, two different regions in Spain. So with the two women I want to symbolize my two selves, and the duality of belonging to two different cultures, showing brotherhood and sisterhood between these two cultures. The background represents landscapes and monuments characteristic of both cultures. On one side we have orange trees, the Miguelete (bell tower of the Valencia Cathedral, and two modern buildings belonging to the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia), on this side I have mixed these symbols characteristic of Valencia with a woman but dressed in the Sevillian costume (characteristic of Andalusia), thus showing the mix between the two cultures. On the other side of the painting, I show a landscape of olive trees, characteristic of the region of Jaen in Andalusia, where my family is from. In this case, the woman wears the traditional costume of Valencia; again I want to show the mix between the two cultures.
